I have an Aspen grove here on the...Beautiful piece. I have an Aspen grove here on the great plains. The original sapling came from my parents front yard in Colorado Springs. Hauled it across the plains in a flower pot. Forgot about it out on our patio for almost two years - that happens when you're raising three kids. I planted it but for the first year it did nothing. Second year it thrived and now stands a good 50 feet or more - finding its way through the huge oaks (the more native tree around these parts). It's been 16 years since I brought that little sapling here. I have a grove of Aspen now - a hearty gathering of seven or so Aspens that are real little trees. And every year there are new ones sprouting. Aspens are resilient. They can take the short summers and low oxygen levels of the Rocky Mountains. They can take high humidity and grab sunshine even amid the tall oak.
